DescriptionThis is the first lesson of Duke Robillard's Swingin' the Blues series of guitar lessons. The goal for this series is to transition a player familiar with standard 12 bar blues to more melodic and complex jazzy blues / swing playing. The series first focuses on jazzy blues and swing rhythm guitar to lay a solid foundation and then teaches passing chords, comping, riffing, double stops and lead guitar. The series ends by putting all of the new knowledge to practice in three songs.
Lesson 1 starts with a quick run through of the song Swingin' with Lucy Mae. Duke then teaches the basic rhythm form of the song. He then iterates on this form adding more interesting and melodic chords with each example resulting in a great swinging jazzy blues groove at the end.
